Am I the only one that realize that the article specifically states that this 12-year-old has problems... like I don't know, feeling like a BURDEN to her MOTHER!? Maybe the apology letter is a dead give away on why she would commit suicide.

But like the media wants, everyone below me is more concerned about the mere mention of emo in the fracking article. In order for the stereotype of diminish, stop adding fuel to the fire. Jeez...

Oh my God. I am tired of reading and hearing about these cases. People are blaming EVERYTHING on 'Being Emo' these days.' Come ON. Obviously the girl had other issues and it's not fair for people to blame it on the things she wears. Does that even MAKE sense. Ugh. They need to get over it. Emo isn't a disease. It's not the cause of cancer fot God's sake. *sighs* The blame needs to go in the right boxes.

I don't like what the article said about how she dressed. Just because you dress a certain way doesn't make you "emo".

You can wear black and Converse without being emo. Geez, people.

Baby, emo is officially a trend.
Punk was in the beggining only a genre of music, but now it also a fashion trend.
Get Over It.

As for the article, the way the girl maybe INTERPERETED the whole "emo" thing is more of an issue. People need to atleast start thinking of it as a TREND, not a LIFESTYLE! Yikes!

I'm SURE she had issues to begin with. People need a reason to kill themselves. For sorrow, attention, fun? Still reasons.

Its hard that this sort of thing can happen In Romania and people will take action for it...but nothing happens of it if this sort of thing happens in the states...

i hate the fact that the 'emo' trend is blamed for this.
first off, its not a trend, its a fashion/music choice people choose to listen to to express themselves. not saying they are being very originial, at all, but still. If someone wants to jump on the emo bandwagon, its their problem. if they're only doing it so they can look cool and think that suicide is the only way to get out of that trend, or that suicide is cool they should think again.
i really hate today's pop culture and the way they portray things.

This is like my third 'emo kills himself/herself' article I have read today.
And I'm just getting so mad about this.
Why do these people feel the need to harm themselves?!
These kinds of people help build the sterotype of emo, goth, and punk!
I'm just guessing that kids who don't fit ANYWHERE, even amongst the outcasts of a school, think it would be cool to hang out with the goth, punks, etc.
So, they go for emo.
As for the trend, who the fck invented it in the first place?
I know it was orginally a music genre and it's short for emotional, but who was the jackass that actually came up with the idea that cutting yourself was cool?
It's fucking not.
It just means that you want attention.

Ok let me just say this, emo is not a fashion, it is not really a trend. Emo is short for emotional. If you say that whoever shows their emotions are emo than the whole damn world should be considered "emo". So what if people wear black clothes or wear converses or has patches all over their bags and shit. Quit with all this stereotyping bullshit. All is does is make people feel like shit about themselves cause you make them feel like they dont belong

I think this is getting rediculous.
Maybe now it's just a riot thing, but why suicide guys?
That's nothing to toy with.

I had problems at 12. I tried to kill myself at 13. Thank God I have someone who listens to my problems now, and gives a shit about what I'm saying. Have you ever thought that's what this girl needed? Someone who would listen to her? Someone she could trust? Someone who gave a rat's ass about her?

Thats a shame.
and for all the people who think suicide is stupid, thats bullshit.
But then again, I think emo is bullshit too.
but Suicide can resign from an underlying problem that people can be facing.
I've contemplated suicide many times, sure its not the answer but it isn't stupid.
Its not a great choice but usually people have reasons for it.

honestly, just because someone's emo doesn't mean they're going to kill themselves. To figure out a proper percentage, I would put the number of emo kids on one side and the number of emo kids who killed themselves on the other.

Honestly, the percentage is just about the same across the board for all kids, emo or not.

I agree with you too, blue_green_purple. It's not the emo culture but the story behind why they self-mulitate themselves. Many believe the emo culture is mearly a style rather than a culture.
I wear black clothes, black eye liner, converse type shoes, and black longsleeves all the time, but I do not self-mulitate myself. Does that make me emo??? Think about it that way. It's the story, not the fashion.
