I agree with you, blue_green_purple, at 12 you CAN have problems.
    Poor girl. RIP.
The 'emo' culture shouldn't be blamed.

To all the people that think this girl is stupid for killing herself,
You. Are. Jackasses. At 12 you can have lots of problems. When I was 12 I thought about suicide, and I wasn't emo.
To all those who say suicide is bad for young people,
When you say that suicide is bad, you should just say it's bad for everyone, because it is.
To all those who blame the emo culture,
Blaming the emo culture is bull shit too. All it is, is just clothes and music. Self mutalation isn't part of it. I should know, I'm still not emo, but I hurt myself alot.

Ya, I just really had problems with that. I mean 1) she's dead, have respect, and 2) Emo's are all bad, they're real humans ya know.

If someone is dumb enough to kill themselves, then they deserve to die.
    What a mother fucker.

Firstly the article is writte very well, what I'm mad about is this emo stuff. I agree with what everyone is saying. This girl is stupid. Honestly, at 12 hoe many problems can you have? If your poor, alone, 47 and bankrupt, okay I guess you had enough of your life, but 12? Suicide = bad. Doesn't anyone know?

This is just too sad. But I wish people would realize that emo is not that you have to cut youself or like the idea of suicide. Emo came from a type of music in the 80's or something. The bands wrote lyrics that let out their feelings. Later emo became a style. And I mean a clothing and hair style NOT cutting yourself. And i mean... REALLY?! Suicide is not the answer I can assure you that.

    My god!!
There is to much death in the news lately! She could have had a great life but no....and she ain't going to be the last kid to commit suicide.

The emo culture has nothing to do with it.Its society. The media just want to blame something and get money. So when a kid dies they get more money and the emo subculture gets a badder name. But the goth subculture has alot more death in it so it's weird how they don't get blamed...

12 Also seems to be a key number. Not that this has anything to do with it, I just think that's fascinating.

I think it's sad she felt the need to kill herself, but it just angers me so much that people feel the need to blame a fashion, because that's all it is.
In her note, she mentions the fact she felt she was a burden to her mother, this could have been a problem alone, let alone on top of other things.

If she killed herself to defend her 'emo' status, then [I do not wish death on anyone] that's her own stupidity, it has nothing to do with the fashion, or 'cult' as the media so fondly call it.

And maybe it doesn't occur to people, but sometimes people have problems before they become 'emo', it's mainly because of their problems that they feel the need to become morbid. People were committing suicide long before any of this stuff. It's never going to change, trends will always be blamed for this kind of stuff, people fail to look into things, which is the most irritating of things, but if they did, we'd have less controversy and maybe we'd cut down the number of teen suicides, seeing as there'd be less miscommunication.

    Yeah?

her choice. it's all a fucking CHOICE! I'M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT THIS! If she wanted to kill herself, then it's HER choice. NO ONE has the placement to blame a whole group of people for the CHOICES of one person.

    END. OF. STORY.

"Emo" is such a stupid word. It shouldn't even exsist. It's sad to see such young kids throwing away their lives...It makes my heart ache to see what our world is coming to...a 12 year old...

Okay, dude, that is just stupid. Just because someone wears black clothes and cons doesn't mean that their emo. There's this kid in my brother's first grade class whose backpack is covered with pins and he always wears cons to school. My deepest sympathies to her and her family. Rest IN pEACE

**face/palm** you don't ask the class mates, you just don't do that

that's just so...i can't even find a word for it...i...no...grrr...i don't blame the girl, her parents divorce and her boyfriend dumping her, that would send some fragile people over the edge, "emo" "chav" or "prep" it doesn't matter, anyone from any of those "trends" could be like that

this is becoming sooo out of hand. Emo is a fashion, not a fucking way of life! These kids who die because they want to be 'emo, are posers. True 'emos' dont wanna die, they just like tops with pretty coloured stars on:D

I don't think it's entirely fair to "blame" her actions on a current "trend", but, if the influence of the trend is constantly there, around a 12 year old no less, then i can see why people would place that kind of accusation. I'm not saying it's right, I can just see both sides of the issue. However, we have no idea what kind of troubles she could have had at home, or at school that would have lead her to do something so drastic.

I don't see why people blame this things on something as stupid as labels.

It is sad that she killed herself but to me it sounds like she did it out of depression not because of the trend.

    Lol.

I mean, it sucks that a young girl took her own life, but to me it sounds like she didn't call herself emo, but her peers did.

I think we shouldn't blame emo, but more or less the peers for being so... unaccepting of people around them.

I know this is basically what alot of people have said.
But people need to stop blaming the "emo trend"
    It's not a cult.
Well, I don't think it is.
And these "emo" bands don't promote any of this self-harm/suicide sh*t.
The media need to stop blaming emo for something they don't understand.

But it is very sad that she's wasted her life.
