I saw a DVD of the movie in a shop and thought it looked really good but my dad said I can't see it because I'm only 13 and my parents really don't like me seeing violence in movies and TV. And I'm guessing that if I'm not allowed see the movie then I'm not allowed read the book. Stupid age restrictions. Disgust

I read this book in two days. It was fucking amazing. I can't even describe how good it was. It was just...face paced, but not rushed through. It was detailed, but not overkill. And the movie? One of the few movies that did justice to the book. Even though they took out the book ending, it still was great. Like, i don't even have enough to say about both.

I loved the movie. I wish I could read the book, but I doubt I could find it anywhere here. ._.

At first I thought Borges wrote it. :cheese: Well Burgess/Borges it's almost the same. Yet they are different.

Is it anything like the other 60s/70s Beat generation books ? It sounds like it is.
I dunno if the good narative perspective is worth me actually reading the whole book.

I just read the book for my class and it was AMAZING. >_<
I haven't seen the movie and I'm not sure if I want to.

Did anyone else catch on that the 'slang' language in the book was Russian?
=D I suck at speaking Russian (my mom's Russian) so when I read the book my Rooskee speaking skills got even worse because the book had it slangified.

It is a mix of modified Slavic words, Cockney rhyming slang, derived Russian (like "baboochka" ), and words invented by Burgess himself.

I just started to read the book today - I'm on page 34. The slang was a little hard to get used to (and made it hard to read), but then I realized some of the Cockney and picked it up real fast. I mean, after a while you understand just by what he's talking about.
I really want to get to the ending...the version I'm reading is the one with the ending not in the movies - the chapter not included. So, I want to see what's different.

I read the book and loved it- then discovered a glossary at the end which had the slang and meanings. Not my proudest moment, I have to admit...

I've seen the first half of the film- well, I say half; I saw up to the point where the scientist is showing how Alex has improved- and it was...weird. Good, but weird.

I wish the book I have has a glossary...I had to figure out a lot of the words on my own. After about 20 pages I picked it up. I read that some of the copies had a glossary, so each time I came across a word I didn't know when I first began reading, I flipped to the back. Would've thought the first time I did it and didn't see anything would tell me something. Lol

I've seen about half the movie, and I'm currently reading the book. I don't think my brother has ever been obsessed with anything more than he is with A Clockwork Orange.

Burgess is a fucking insane author! I love him. I hated this movie; the book is far better and one of my favorites.

She doesn't have to, but if she wants the real meaning of why Burgess wrote the book, then yes.
    xD
I personally liked it better with the last chapter because it showed so much.

    Best movie ever.
I can watch it over and over again.
I know some friends of mine who can't sit through the whole thing.
There's just something about it that get's in you.
It gave me shivers the first time I watched it :]

I've tried to read the book before the movie, last summer. Of course, as you may expect, the slang very muchly ruined my brain. In this case, I have yet to read the book version. I /have/ recently watched the movie of it, however, and thought it was a very good film. Though it's now one of my favorites, it sort of killed me when I watched it. I really can't say why. I emotionally got all blocked up Alex. I guess it's one of those things that leads you on with the character and you grow for him. Man. I was afraid of people coming into my house and raping me after I watched that. Yeah. It was just. Pretty intense.
