I've watched the movie, and I have to say I prefer the book. The movie seems to be missing something...

    I agree.
the book was so detailed and I read it in an entire day. the movie was good, but I felt it could've been a little better. certain scenes he described in the book didn't happen in the movie, and that dissapointed me. other than that like FrankieMonster said, the movie was funny and weird. It's something that most people would be digusted by but it intrigued me. and Malcom Mcdowell did a wonderful job playing the role of Alex.

oh, and Iloved their little white outfits and their masks! a little tacky, but it suited them.

    It's missing the last chapter.

I'm reading it now. So far I don't really get it. Are they a bunch of misbehaved teenagers? The Nadsat gets really distracting.

I found this book really intriguing. It's one of my favourites.
Yes, they're four guys who go round beating people up, simply because they enjoy violence.
The slang is quite confusing but you get it eventually. Trust me.

I didn't see all the film because I was tired. But, I agree. The book was much better.

To be honest, I don't really like it so far. What's the point? Some ignorant teenager goes about acting like an idiot, beating people up and raping little girls, then he lands himself in jail.
    Big deal. What's the hype?
I don't get what's so great about it.

Granted, I haven't finished it yet, so this is just my opinion so far.

Okay, I've gotten to the part where they make him watch the films.
We've got a plot going here now.
It sounds a lot more promising now...
Although quite unsettling, I will admit.

    What's not to get?
A bratty sociopath gets brainwashed by the government.

^ That's not the point of the book.

I don't have the time to type what the book is about, so I'll here is a good link. That is what it's about. Not the government brainwashing Alex. Sure, that has to do with the theme but it's not the theme itself.

Plus, you have to have the real version to understand what Burgess wanted the readers to realize. That's when you see Alex decides for himself not to be evil anymore - proving methods like Ludovico Technique is a sin, removing the power of free will.

Like, not even ten minutes ago I got done watching the movie. o.o

I had wanted to see it, ever since I was looking at some My Chem pictures back when I was obsessed, and my friend Morph said; "Hey, they copied A Clockword Orange! They look like that killer-dude and his troupe!"
I asked him wtf he was talking about, and he was all; "This weird movie I watched. A Clockwork Orange. Alex was a killer in the movie.... I'd do 'im."
    :lmfao

So, I asked him if I could borrow his DVD, and he said sure, but never gave it to me. >>
I rented it today on VHS, and watched it.
Granny said I would be disappointed, but nooooo! I loved it. ?
Very... creative! I never knew there was a book... I'll have to get that.

I'm reading the book right now [I'm on chapter 7 of the second book], and I'm loving it. I've only seen about ten minutes of the movie on youtube, but after I read the book I'm going to buy the movie.

When I told my dad what I was reading [and that I LOVED it] and he looked really disgusted. Probably because I was in a good mood and when I told him what part of the book I was on it came out wrong. "Oh, I just got past the part where Alex rapes two 10 year old girls. :D "

The Nadsat was a little hard to understand at first, but by the end of the book I understood it a little more. Now that I'm re-reading it again I'm automatically translating it in my head without a second thought. It's very interesting.

Um, I've just started it today and so far it's just utterly amazing. Just had to get used to some of the language but other than that. Amazing.

Awful book. I tried to read it over the summer, but it burnt my brain o.O I like a challenge as much as the next person, but why couldn't the author just write in English or Russian. Pick one language, not loads >.< The storyline was pretty good, but it was written awfully in my honest opinion. I tried reading it a few times to get it, but gave up. I don't see the hype with it, but I guess you either love it or hate it.

What do you mean by the real version?
    There's more than one?
