My mum won't let me watch it. I saw it when we were in ASDA this morning and I showed her. She practically threw it across the floor and said 'that movie is disgusting' and she tried to end it. Of course I had to go on about until she got mad. I know it's an 18 and I'm only 15, but I really want to watch it! My mum is mega strict about films though.

Well, it's easy to see where she's coming from.
My mom saw it back when it came out in seventy...one, I think. I doubt she even remembers all of it, but she was a little cautious the first time I watched it a few years back at age 13. It is disgusting. But good at the same time.

    Read the book, though.
You'll get much more from that.

Get it at the school library and read it during school. xD
I don't know if a school would have it, though. My school does, but that's because it has books that other school ban since mine doesn't believe in that.

I really love what he did with the language in the book. You do catch on after a wee bit of reading, i still havent figured out what 'starry' is supposed to be. I love the book, yet ive never seen the movie.
Starry means old :D "There was a doddery starry schoolmaster type veck". We had to read it for my AS level English course, it was brilliant!!! We even watched the film too, but I had already watched it when I was young once, so it didnt bother me...

The film is good but I much prefer the book (I nicked the book I was using for my coursework. I still have it a year later =P) I think the ending is brilliant and just perfect for the book. x

I haven't seen the movie, but I've just finished the book. It's amazing! I love the colloquialism used in it. My book didn't have the dictionary in it, but I am Russian, so I didn't have too much trouble. At first, I had to read really slowly to make sense of the words and translate them, but in the end, it was just natural. I love the twist about how Alex ends up at the writer's place and everybody uses him to get to the government. It's awesome. I can't wait to see the movie.

    ...and all that cal :D

My mother wanted to shoot me when I asked to watch the movie. It was scary...(Not the movie but the way my mom reacted.)

The book isn't a long book.
Basically it's about the future and the boy, Alex, tells us about his life and what happened in it. He loves violence and classical music. There are lots of words that have been created, so make sure when you get the book you get one that has a dictionary at the back explaining the meaning of the words. And that it has the last chapter. It depends on what publisher printed out the book for the final chapter.

I'm thinking of reading it in the library, I've been told I'm not allowed to see the movie but technically my parents never said anything about reading the book.

some publishers omit the last chapter, felt it didnt flow with the whole story. but the book is wonderful. i found myself using the words in real life. boy did i get some strange looks

From what I learned, the author said (when the book was finally getting published) just to ommit the last chapter. It was later that he argued that they should add the last chapter in. A lot of publishers do have it, but this one that he first went with don't.

I enjoyed this book, but I had moments when I couldn't read it because I got attached to the main character.

I started reading the book, and was very confused by the slang. But I still was really interested from what I could decipher.

I should buy a Russian-English dictionary. But I definately like it so far, and from reading the thread, it really is a god book and movie.

I'll probably watch it after reading it.

I love the movie, it's my type of movie, really.
It's weird, violent, funny, horrible, and makes little sense.
    My type exactly!
I'm off to read the book as soon as I can find it.
