We Are Broken

I've always known that there was something… special about me. Like, you know how when you’re younger, and you know for a fact that you’re better at something than others? Yeah, that’s how this feels. I knew from the moment that I took the stage that I was going to rock. I knew from the moment that I first sang a note that I was going to kick ass.

I knew.

I knew all of these things the moment it all happened. But what I never understood is when I first looked into the eyes of my father, why I didn’t know it was him. I remember sitting on the floor, watching T.V, when a music video came on for a band called My Chemical Romance, it was I’m Not Okay (I Promise). I was captivated by the sound of the two different styles of guitars, one metal and the other very punk, versus the vocals. My golden brown eyes were glued to the screen as I watched the lead singer perform in the video, taking no prisoners.

I later found out that the lead singer’s name was Gerard Arthur Way, and that I, Maura Arthura Way was his daughter.
