Just the Way You Are

They whispered behind her back. They didn’t even try to hide it. They pointed their bony fingers. They called her names. They laughed at her face. They told her she was a large waste of space.

What was sad about it…?

She believed them. She didn’t believe that she was anything special. She thought she was the one mistake in the world around her. She thought she was the only imperfection.

A blemish on a beautiful face. A pale, gray moth in a group of multicolored butterflies.

That’s what she was. That’s what they told her.

“How can she stand to be so fat?” One girl questioned.

“She’s disgusting, I swear.”

Ignore them… she would continuously tell herself. They just don’t get it.

There was only one thing she wanted. There was only one thing she needed.

To have someone tell her…

“You’re amazing… just the way you are.”
