It's been years since Ciara Johnson left New Jersey. She went to college in Ireland and graduated with degrees in both sociology and psychology. Currently she is working as a grief counsellor, travelling around the country to visit schools where the students have been affected by another's death. Sometimes she hates it, but she is doing what she loves - helping others. Her old boyfriend, Aidan, is also on the scene and they seem to be in love. From the outside at least, Ciara's life seems to be finally coming together.

It's been years since Gerard Way came back to New Jersey only to find that his girlfriend had left him. He changed after that. He became self-destructive, determined to either get Ciara back or kill himself with alcohol and drugs. His life is coming apart at the seams and he is unwilling to listen to anyone.

What happens when they are brought back together by a chance of fate?
Will Ciara let Gerard and her old friends back into her life?
Will Gerard give up his destructive ways to keep Ciara in his life?
What about Aidan, the seemingly perfect boyfriend?
And, what about Oisín, the teenage boy who Ciara has a growing attachment to?
