She was playing with some dolls, dressing them up and making the Ken doll tell Barbie that she was really pretty. I smiled softly at her.

“Hey, Emma.”

“Birdie!” She screamed, flinging herself at me in a hug. “I missed you! I looked everywhere for you, but I couldn’t find you!”

The smile on my face faltered. “Well, Emma, in that case, you’ll be missing me a whole lot.”

She snuggled into me. “No I won’t ‘cause tonight we’re going to play with my dolls together! Just like last year at Christmas, you remember?”

I nodded, hugging her small form close. “Yeah, Ems, I remember. I hate to break this to you, but Emma, I won’t be here tonight.” Her confusion was evident. “Or the next day. Or the next.”

Her lower lip trembled. “But the day after that, right, Birdie? Right?”

Phoenix Envy felt like he was on top of the world. He regularly did drugs. He had no worries and he had no cares...until Alex Gaskarth and his bandmates teaches him that cutting doesn't work and drugs won't get you high enough to forget about your problems forever. Slowly, he becomes attached to Emma, a small broken girl at the Children's home. Growing attached to her meant keeping her safe. Safe from suicide. Safe from drugs. And safe from being alone.

But when All Time Low step in, things get misplaced. Alex thinks he's doing the right thing by adopting a lost cause like Phoenix Envy, but things happen and an unlikely chain of events is started, causing both physical and emotional pain.

Warning: PG-13 content inculding drug use, self mutilation, and suicide.
